Sustainability Framework

Traceability
This is a system the company has implemented to trace every bag of cocoa procured in all our cocoa districts, to the purchasing clerk who brought the beans from the society and finally to the farmer who produced the beans. This initiative has yielded a positive outcome because of the company’s commitment to its strong farmer base. Our organized, registered and trained farmers also enjoy a congenial working environment with Asempa Sourcing Ltd our special initiative. Our cocoa traceability program helps the company to address any challenge at our societal, district, port of destination and even in overseas.

Asempa Sourcing Ltd is committed to building a fully sustainable cocoa supply chain, anchored in reliable traceability systems and accurate data to maintain supply chain integrity. Our approach is to implement practical, measurable best practices that deliver long-term value to cocoa farmers and their communities.

Progress depends on structured collaboration. We work directly with suppliers to implement sustainability standards, address systemic risks, and enforce our Supplier Code of Conduct, which prohibits forced labor and child labor. We also engage with industry stakeholders to address shared social and environmental challenges within the cocoa sector.

Our responsibility is twofold: to consistently deliver high-quality cocoa beans and to ensure that sourcing practices are sustainable and verifiable, while improving farmer livelihoods. This is operationalized through four core pillars:

Productivity
Farmer income is the primary determinant of sustainable adoption. Where incomes are low, environmental and social compliance is difficult to maintain. Our focus is on improving yields, farm efficiency, and income stability to enable farmers to meet sustainability requirements.

Environment
Forest ecosystems are essential for climate regulation, biodiversity, and soil health. However, agricultural expansion and logging continue to drive deforestation. We promote traceable, deforestation-free sourcing and support farming practices that protect and restore natural ecosystems.

Community Development
Sustainable supply chains require resilient communities. Many cocoa-growing areas face gaps in access to education, healthcare, and nutrition. We support targeted community interventions that strengthen household welfare and enable long-term participation in sustainable cocoa production.

Child Protection
Child labor risk remains a critical issue in cocoa supply chains. Our approach is based on risk identification, monitoring, and remediation. Through structured farmer and community profiling systems, we identify vulnerabilities and implement interventions to prevent and address child labor, ensuring compliance with our standards.
